Abstract
Objective: To demonstrate the potential analgesic effect of Cannabidiol (CBD) in the management of chronic pain (CD). Methods: This is an integrative literature review, based on scientific works on the antinociceptive action of CBD (pure or medicinal cannabis) and its application as an alternative adjuvant therapy for the treatment of chronic pain. Original articles published in Portuguese, Spanish and English, from 2012 to 2022, obtained from Google Scholar, SCIELO, PUBMED and LILACS were considered. Results: In observational studies, which start from the observational evaluation of health outcomes regarding the therapeutic applicability of cannabidiol (pure or medicinal cannabis) in patients, significant results regarding the improvement of symptoms of the different idiopathies addressed (including chronic pain) predominated. In a randomized clinical trial, patients who used cannabinoids showed considerable improvement in the symptoms of peripheral neuropathy. In pre-clinical trials, analgesic action was observed with the use of cannabidiol in different pain stimuli. Final considerations: From the studies evaluated, it can be observed that there is analgesic action of cannabidiol in patients with chronic pain, especially in peripheral neuropathies.
