Abstract

Objective: To demonstrate the relationship between diet and the presence of risk and factors associated with the growth of Candida for adherence of recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis. Methods: It was a review with a search on PubMed with the objective of analyzing them described for the themes integrated throughout the study. A search was performed in September 2022, using the following syntax: candidiasis AND influence AND nutrition. It was used the conditional of the studies were also published to 2012 2022. Results: We found 17 articles related to the topic, of which 08 articles were excluded and 09 were selected. The reasons for excluding the articles were because they were not accessible in full (X=3), because they were articles with other themes in relation to candidiasis (X=5) and because they did not present epidemiological data regarding the influence of food on candidiasis, object of this study. Final considerations: Adjuvant therapies demonstrate the importance of changing dietary habits and how they help to prevent pathology or disease progression, as the intestinal microbiota directly affects the health and immune system of the female genitourinary system, balances the pH of the vagina and prevents the more acidic environment, thus preventing the proliferation of fungi.
