Abstract
Objective: To present the case of an infant of only 6 months old with blocked intestinal perforation that was diagnosed after 30 days of ingestion of a foreign body. Details of the case: He was seen in a neighboring city on the day of ingestion and after 15 days when he presented vomiting and constipation. Radiographs did not detect an acute abdomen. Repeating the sintoms after 30 days, he was screened at our service, Computed Tomography (CT) showed intestinal distention, liquid levels, malrotation of the distal ileum and epigastrium appendix, acute abdomen due to intestinal malrotation. Even so, the mother insisted that the infant had ingested a “branch of the Christmas tree” (sic) 1 month ago. In laparotomy, a perforated colon hepatic angle perforation was identified, a mobile cecum with an ectopic appendix in the epigastric region. Final considerations: This anatomical alteration possibly caused the obstruction in the ascending colon by the ingested plastic object, with subsequent intestinal perforation, since the angled rise of the ascending colon made the foreign body unable to pass unharmed there. The foreign body was removed, colororraphy, appendectomy and cecostomy were performed on an appendicular basis, which justifies the rarity of this case.
