Abstract

Objective: To present the importance of the pharmacist-patient relationship, with a reasoned clinical view, emphasizing the dimension of Pharmaceutical Care (PA) in the guidance for the rational use of medicines. Methods: This is a bibliographic review, of an integrative type, where sites such as SciELO, Acervo +, Portal Capes and LILACS were used as a research tool to classify the collected materials, taking into account the general objectives. Results: Through a bibliographic approach, we sought to gather information relevant to pharmaceutical performance in its legal attributions, aiming to highlight the relevance of care and patient guidance in a responsible and evidence-based manner, so that the pharmaceutical profession is increasingly valued and have social recognition as a health professional who can offer a service capable of promoting the patient's health in a safe and effective way, also contributing to reduce unnecessary visits to health units, and, consequently, reducing their overcrowding, which currently can considered a public health problem. Final considerations: It should be noted that the pharmacist's specialized knowledge in the use of his duties for clinical practice and care to the patient is extremely important, through proper guidance.
