Abstract

Objective: To analyze the increase in bacterial resistance against the indiscriminate use of antibiotics. Methods: An integrative literature review was carried out, based on a retrospective of articles published in the last five years, based on scientific articles searched in Health Sciences electronic databases such as: National Library of Medicine (MEDLINE/PubMed), database of Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online repository (SCIELO) and Acervo+. Results: To better understand the topic, data that emphasize the increasing increase in multi-resistant bacteria and the dangers of this event were addressed. Final considerations: The studies showed that there is a growing increase in multi-resistant bacteria in different parts of the world and this event will generate crises globally in such a way that there will be few treatment options for bacterial infections. Greater attention from health authorities and more assertive guidance from health professionals, especially pharmacists, are envisioned.
