Methods: A survey of descriptive studies of the total value per Federation Unit of DR in the State of São Paulo registered in the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN), from January 1, 2016 to March 31, 2021 with value total by age group, sex and color/race. Results: The age of 60 to 69 years declared 25,977,968.60 cases and the age less than 1 year showed 61,945.32 cases. Males obtained 49,947,896.67 representing 59.1% of cases and females presented 34,571,668.70 with 40.9%. The white color/race had 59,447,092.82 cases and the indigenous race had 33,528.62 cases. Conclusion: In all age groups analyzed and throughout the study period, white men had a higher incidence. The younger and earlier the surgical intervention, the better the final VA, therefore, when the operation is guided and performed successfully, surgical correction helps to maintain these patients' vision and quality of life.
