Abstract
Objective: To describe the pathophysiology of asthma, its etiology and treatments according to clinical protocols and therapeutic guidelines, demonstrating the importance of pharmaceutical care in asthma control. Methods: This study is characterized as a literature review which used, as research tools, websites such as SciELO, Acervo+ Index Base, PubMed and Google Scholar, to classify the materials collected, taking into account general and specific objectives. Results: Asthma control depends on its treatments and the rational use of the medication designated; therefore the pharmacist is a differential in the corresponding therapy, offering correct guidance on the use of inhaler devices and their respective medications, along with alternative treatments, leading to therapeutic adherence and, consequently, reducing hospitalizations and providing the patients with well-being. Final considerations: We understand that the presence of pharmaceutical assistance is necessary in the search for new strategies, with actions that seek to promote closer ties between the population and the services provided.
