Abstract
Objective: To demonstrate the contributions of Pharmaceutical Care (PA) in the care of patients with systemic arterial hypertension. Methods: Works with relevant content, published between 2015 and 2021, in Portuguese, English or Spanish, were collected. The framework of this work consisted of 15 articles, which demonstrate the benefits of pharmaceutical care for patients with SAH. Results: PA can be understood as a set of actions, with the purpose of improving the patient's quality of life, which encompasses several activities performed by the pharmacist. Studies reveal that patients with Systemic Arterial Hypertension who obtain pharmacotherapeutic follow-up with Pharmaceutical Care, present greater adherence to treatment, and reduced blood pressure values. Pharmaceutical Care is also efficient in recognizing and solving drug-related problems, which can lead to reduced therapeutic effectiveness. Final considerations: The pharmacist plays a relevant role with regard to promoting the rational and correct use of medicines, clarifying the proper form of use, contributing to treatment adherence and thus ensuring a better quality of life for patients with SAH.
