Abstract

Objective: Identify nutritional deficiencies in the literature throughout the postoperative period and to verify the adequacy of supplementation and diet in patients undergoing Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery. Methods: A bibliographic survey of scientific articles from 2013 to 2021 was carried out through the PubMed, SciELO, Periódico Capes and LILACS databases. Results: 110 articles were found, of which 12 met the criteria of this study. The results showed that throughout the postoperative period, the iron deficit increased significantly and the use of vitamin supplements, as well as adherence to the diet, still represents a factor of inadequacy and contributes to the emergence of nutritional deficiencies. Final considerations: Monitoring after surgery by the doctor and a nutritionist becomes essential, especially in the long term, both in the identificationof nutritional deficiencies and in the acceptance of supplements and an adequate diet in order to minimize health risks.
