Abstract
Objective: To report the experience lived in an educational action on self-care and Sexually Transmitted Infections with university students. Experience report: This study came from the experience of health education with students from a higher education course at a university in the interior of northeastern Brazil. The activities were planned based on the theoretical framework proposed by the Arch of the diagram, the Arch Method of Maguerez, presented by Bordenave and Pereira and the Theory of Practical Intervention in Nursing in Collective Health (TIPESC). The intervention consisted of the activity entitled “Tree of Pleasures” and was divided into three moments. Sheets of different colors were distributed, alluding to pleasures, risks and protection. After assembling the tree, the students removed statements from the stem according to the themes presented for discussion. Finally, illusory apples were made that contained questions on the subject, the students judged them as correct or not, thus evaluating whether there was learning. Final considerations: popular health education is a crucial tool for nursing professionals, as it allows articulating popular and scientific knowledge in order to contribute to improving the quality of life of subjects, promoting dialogue between health professionals and society.
