Abstract

Objective: Compare Taksotsubo Syndrome (TTS) with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) in terms of clinical and epidemiological characteristics, in addition to their diagnostic strategies. Methods: This is a study with a qualitative and descriptive approach, carried out through an integrative literature review. The databases used were the National Library of Medicine (PubMed), MEDLINE and LILACS. The following descriptors were applied: “Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy”, “Diagnosis” and “Prevalence”, using the “AND” operator between the respective words. Results: 492 were analyzed and, of these, 30 were selected. Patients complained of chest pain, ECG changes, loss of biomarkers and absence of severe coronary sequelae. This disease has a higher prevalence in females after menopause. The Mayo Clinic criteria are used for the diagnosis of TTS and may be useful in differentiating it from other diseases. Final considerations: TTS is a diagnostic challenge, with recognition made difficult by overlapping symptoms and changes in complementary tests common to other conditions, such as ACS. However, epidemiological characteristics and diagnostic scores can be decisive for its identification.
