Abstract
Objective: To identify in the literature the most relevant risk factors related to the pathogenesis of precocious puberty (PP) in female children. Methods: This is an integrative review carried out through searches in the PubMed, LILACS and SciELO databases, using the descriptors “Precocious puberty”, “Female” and “Sexual maturity”, in Portuguese, English and Spanish, in last 5 years. Results: At the end of the selection process, 23 articles were analyzed, which indicated that childhood overweight/obesity, exposure to endocrine disruptors during the prenatal period and childhood, and mutations in the MKRN3, DLK1 and KISS1 genes are factors that may be associated with PP in girls. Final considerations: Knowledge about the conditions associated with PP by health professionals is essential for early recognition and adequate management of the condition, considering the long-term complications for the affected individual. The limitations of the research are the fact that it is restricted to studying girls and the small number of national articles included.
