Abstract

Objective: Understand the main complications linked to the use of hyaluronic acid in aesthetic treatments. Bibliographic Review: The use of hyaluronic acid (HA) in aesthetic treatments is on the rise due to its benefits in correcting wrinkles, asymmetries and increasing volume in facial regions, among other advantages. However, its application is not without risks. Studies have indicated that tissue necrosis is one of the most worrying complications, occurring mainly due to accidental intra-arterial injection. The discussion on the use of the hyaluronidase enzyme as a treatment for complications was addressed, although its use must be done with caution due to possible complications Final Considerations: The search for aesthetic treatments is influenced by beauty standards and personal dissatisfaction with self-image, and adverse effects can have a psychological impact on patients. Therefore, a deep understanding of application techniques, respect for safety guidelines and the search for constant updates are essential to guarantee satisfactory results and minimize complications.
