Abstract

Objective: To explore and analyze the latest advances in CAR-T therapy, highlighting its clinical applications and strategies to reduce adverse reactions. Literature review: CAR-T therapy is based on fusion protein receptors, chimeric antigen receptors (CARs), designed to direct T lymphocytes to antigens expressed on cancer cells and in autoimmune disorders. Currently, it represents a significant breakthrough in the oncological field, particularly for the treatment of hematologic malignancies such as leukemias and lymphomas. However, recent studies are already exploring the expansion of this treatment modality to autoimmune diseases and solid tumors, necessitating advancements in genetic engineering to ensure the safety of these interventions. One of the primary challenges in using this therapy is the need to mitigate potential severe side effects, particularly cytokine release syndrome and neurotoxicity. Final considerations: Investigating and understanding CAR-T cell therapy is crucial, as this approach has shown promising response rates and survival, especially in patients with hematologic tumors. Therefore, this therapy offers new hope for those who do not respond to conventional treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
