Abstract
Objective: To analyze the relationship between obesity and mental health, highlighting the emotional and social impacts during childhood. Literature review: The interaction between personal image and the relationship with other aspects of life, such as family habits and school instruction, can influence these children and how the development of psychological conditions is related to obesity. Effective strategies for solving this problem include interventions involving instruction and behavioral changes for family members, new practices in the school environment, and support from health professionals. However, there are still gaps in the diagnosis and management of this condition, especially regarding emotional health. Final considerations: Childhood obesity is closely linked to mental health, impacting both the emotional well-being and social interactions of children. Despite advances in intervention strategies, significant challenges still persist in the early diagnosis and management of this condition, especially with regard to emotional aspects. Thus, it is necessary to further research that explores the relationship between obesity and mental health in order to develop more effective and personalized approaches that promote an improvement in the quality of life and emotional balance of these children.
