Abstract
Objective: To characterize the epidemiological profile of gastric cancer in the North Region, from 2017 to 2021. Methods: An ecological, retrospective study with a quantitative approach. Public data provided by the Hospitalization System and the Oncology Panel of DATASUS were used. For the construction of the epidemiological profile, the variables gender, race/color, age, diagnoses, deaths and treatments were considered for each Federative Unit that makes up the North Region, using the incidence to reveal epidemiological information. For statistical analysis, p-value < 0.05 was considered as a confidence interval. Results: In the evaluated period, 2.094 individuals diagnosed and undergoing treatment were identified, in addition to 1.584 cases of death. The epidemiological profile comprises brown, male and elderly individuals. From the analysis of the place of diagnosis and treatment, the individuals mostly remain in the Federative Unit where they were diagnosed. Conclusion: The male sex stands out, with more than 65% of the diagnoses, treatments and deaths; the age group between 60 and 64 years old forms high percentages and brown race/color composes about 70% of the deaths.
