Predictors of burnout syndrome in nurses working in family health strategies

Abstract

Objective: To identify, based on the literature, the factors that favor the development of Burnout Syndrome (BS) in nurses working in the Family Health Strategy. Methods: This is an integrative, descriptive, exploratory, qualitative and quantitative literature review conducted through searches of the Virtual Health Library (VHL), Pubmed, Scientific Electronic Library Online, and the Journal Portal of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel, cross-referencing different descriptors. Results: The search identified 138 findings, and after eligibility criteria, 15 studies were identified. These studies were categorized by title, author, year, general objective, discussion, and conclusion. As a strategy to mitigate occupational stress and BS, psychological support programs and workload-balancing policies are necessary. However, many report that there is still little effective implementation of these measures in the daily work of professionals. Final considerations: The literature highlighted the existence of several factors that directly impact workers' physical and mental health, triggering the syndrome. The main factors listed were having more than one employment contract due to financial need, workplace conditions, work overload, and lack of resources.
