Abstract

The medical prescription is an order written by qualified professionals addressed to the pharmacist, designating how the drug should be dispensed to the patient. The objective of this study was to evaluate the medical prescriptions of psychotropic drugs dispensed at a drugstore in the city of Santa Inês-MA, carried out during the months of January to April 2018. A total of 1,954 prescriptions were analyzed, of which 1,364 prescriptions were class "C1" and 590 class "B1" requirements. Essential aspects recommended by Ordinance 344/98 were observed, as well as aspects such as prescribed medical class and medical specialty, characterizing a documentary, descriptive study with a quantitative approach. Of these, 99.5% had the prescriber identification, 95.4% had the full name of the patient, and 93.4% did not present the patient's address. It can be observed that 94.2% presented the concentration, 82.2% contained the pharmaceutical form, 96.9% referred to the amount of drug to be used. As 78.35% of the prescribed drugs were not according to the Brazilian Common Denomination, the most prescribed drug on the "B1" list was clonazepam (46%) and carbamazepine (16.6%) was the "C1" list. It is observed the need for prescribing professionals to comply with current instructions or laws regarding the characteristics for issuing the medical prescription, thus favoring the correct interpretation and dispensing of the drug by pharmacists and the correct use by the patient, providing better adherence to the treatment.
