Abstract
This article aims to analyze the influence of psychological stress in patients with Psoriasis. This is a chronic dermatological disease of unknown etiology, which is not contagious and affects about 2% of the world population, affecting men and women in the same proportion. It is a disease very related to psychological stress and the embarrassment caused by skin lesions. Stress stimulates the release axes of the corticotrophic hormone (CRH), this hormone being the signal for the increase in the production of cortisol in the cells of the adrenal glands. However, when hormones are out of balance, they act on the immune system and the skin is an organ that is sensitive to these variations. Thus, it is one of the key factors both in establishing and maintaining psoriasis lesions. Therefore, psychological stress is considered one of the main axes of psoriasis treatment, since interventions aimed at relieving it, together with conventional therapies, in addition to accelerating the remission of the disease, decrease serum cortisol levels in these patients.
