Abstract

This article aims to highlight the significant increase in the number of cases of mentals disorders and anxious psychological symptoms in the face of a global situation caused by the pandemic of the COVID-19 virus. In the form of a bibliographic review, the paper seeks to associate the greater incidence of anxiety with factors arising as a result of social distance, imminent fear, inadequate access to information and the exhaustive work routine of health professionals, especially those who works in the front line for fighting the virus. The results point to the importance of dealing incisively with the substantial increase of anxiety disorders. One of the main stimuli for the manifestation of feelings of anxiety and stress is the constant feeling of loss of individual freedoms. In order to draw the attention of health professionals, the article reinforces the importance of a professional approach in preventing and combating one of the mental consequences caused by the pandemic.
