Abstract
Objective: To report the manifestation of acute myocardial infarction in a young patient and to analyze its causal relationship, especially with the use of cocaine. Case Details: A 24-year-old male patient was admitted to the emergency department complaining of sudden chest pain, at rest, about 8 hours ago. The electrocardiogram showed ST-segment elevation in the anterior and lateral walls, associated with the elevation of the biochemical markers of myocardial injury. The presence of obstructive coronary disease was not evidenced at cineangiocoronariography. Final considerations: Acute myocardial infarction, although more common in older people, is an important cause of morbidity and mortality among young patients, since risk factors such as smoking and use of illicit drugs, such as cocaine, become more prevalent in this population. population. In a young patient with acute coronary syndrome, without angiographically visible lesions, the use of illicit drugs should be considered as a triggering factor for the ischemic condition.
