Resumen
Objective: To investigate in the literature the impact of mastectomy on the quality of life of women with breast cancer. Methods: This is an integrative literature review study, carried out by searching the Pubmed Central (PUBMED) databases, through the National Library of Medicine (NLM), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE) and Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), through the Virtual Health Library (VHL). A total of 2166 studies were found, after the eligibility criteria, 10 studies were included. Results: It was observed in studies that undergoing mastectomy causes significant impacts on women's Quality of Life (QoL), causing low self-esteem, feelings of discomfort, depression, anxiety, fatigue, insomnia, pain and difficulty in carrying out activities. Carrying out this procedure causes harm to QoL globally, affecting the social role and function of women. Furthermore, the promotion of psychosocial support by professional nurses and the adoption of physical exercise practices contribute to improving QoL. Final considerations: Performing mastectomy in women with breast cancer negatively affects women's QoL, as it has a global impact.
Objetivo: Investigar en la literatura el impacto de la mastectomía en la calidad de vida de mujeres con cáncer de mama. Métodos: Se trata de un estudio de revisión integradora de literatura, realizado mediante búsqueda en las bases de datos Pubmed Central (PUBMED), a través de la plataforma de la Biblioteca Nacional de Medicina (NLM), Medical LiteratureAnalysis and RetrievalSystem Online (MEDLINE) y Literatura Latinoamericana y del Caribe en Ciencias de la Salud (LILACS), a través de la Biblioteca Virtual en Salud (BVS). Se encontraron 2166 estudios, luego de los criterios de elegibilidad se incluyeron 10 estudios. Resultados: La realización de mastectomía provoca impactos en la Calidad de Vida (CdV) de la mujer, provocando baja autoestima, sensación de malestar, depresión, ansiedad, fatiga, insomnio, dolor y dificultad para la realización de actividades. La realización de este procedimiento provoca daños en la calidad de vida a nivel global. La promoción del apoyo psicosocial por parte de profesionales de enfermería y la adopción de prácticas de ejercicio físico contribuyen a mejorar la calidad de vida. Consideraciones finales: La realización de mastectomía en mujeres con cáncer de mama afecta negativamente la calidad de vida de las mujeres, ya que tiene un impacto global.
