Abstract

Objective: To provide a comprehensive approach to endometriosis in women of reproductive age. Bibliographic review: Endometriosis is a chronic, non-malignant, estrogen-dependent gynecological pathology defined by the presence of endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity. It is a disease of difficult diagnosis that mainly affects women in the menacing phase. The clinic can be broad and variable, but is mainly marked by severe menstrual cramps, pain during intercourse, and pelvic pain. The treatment of endometriosis depends on the severity of the condition, and may only be observational with regular gynecological follow-up, medication and, in some cases, surgical. Final Considerations: Endometriosis is a disease that affects a significant portion of the female population of childbearing age, causing damage to the quality of life. Therefore, it is essential to know the main clinical manifestations of the disease in order to speed up the diagnosis and institute the appropriate treatment specific to each case.
