Abstract
Objective: Understanding the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of cancer patients. Bibliographic Review: The COVID-19 pandemic has directly impacted the mental health of cancer patients. These patients are part of the risk group for the pandemic virus since they have a depressed immune system and can be severely affected by the disease. In this way, the pandemic has made the social isolation of these people more intense. The depression that is already triggered in several cases by the disease has intensified with this social reclusion, with the minimization of treatment and postponement of surgeries, consequently, portions of cancer patients had a worsening in their health status. Besides, it is important to emphasize that these psychic disturbances will act in the organism modifying the way it responds to cancer cells and harming the immune response. Final Consideration: Given the assumption, it becomes necessary to provide biopsychosocial support to cancer patients who have experienced the difficulties of the pandemic and to prioritize the service of care for these patients so that they can receive adequate treatment even in turbulent times.
