Abstract
Objective: To analyze cases of occupational cancer related to carcinogenic situations in Brazil between 2018 and 2022, focusing on variables such as sex, race, state, occupation, case evolution, and issuance of Work Accident Report (CAT). Methods: Ecological and time-series study based on secondary data from SINAN and DATASUS, organized in Excel 2024. Demographic, geographic, and occupational information were analyzed, in addition to clinical outcomes. Because anonymized public data were used, approval by the Research Ethics Committee was not required. Results: There was an increase in notifications over the years, with peaks in 2019 and 2022. Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul, and Minas Gerais recorded the highest numbers, while agricultural and construction occupations concentrated most of the cases. The issuance of CAT was limited, especially in serious outcomes, such as deaths. The high number of incomplete records compromised the accurate characterization of the cases. Conclusion: The study highlighted underreporting and weaknesses in the surveillance and recording of occupational cancers in Brazil, highlighting the need to strengthen the issuance of CAT, train professionals and prioritize preventive policies aimed at workers in higher-risk sectors.
