Abstract
This study sought to identify the different forms of popular knowledge and practices about the influence of "reimosos" foods in the healing process, relating cross - cultural nursing to caring. The experience came from the elaboration and application of a booklet containing the practices and health / illness care of the riverside peoples from the point of view of cross-cultural theory and the relationship with "reimosos" foods. The theory of cross-cultural nursing allows nursing professionals to take a holistic view of their client, and thus, provide care that respects existing cultural differences, just as the light technology allowed to spread this knowledge better. Thus, the Amazonian riverside population has their own knowledge about foods considered "reimosos" and health professionals should respect this knowledge, using them to aggregate in the care process.
