Abstract
Objective: To describe, through scientific literature, the incidence of Tuberculosis in Brazil, with an emphasis on the northern region. Methods: This is an Integrative Literature Review, with a descriptive, retrospective aspect with a qualitative approach. Results: The results were ordered according to the title of the articles, the state where they were published, year of publication and the database from which they were collected. The articles found were organized in tables that gathered their characteristics to facilitate their observation and understanding of each study obtained. The northern region still suffers a lot from the lack of attention and effective public policies. There are regions in the North that are difficult to access and have extensive border areas with other countries that are in political crisis and lacking health services. Final considerations: Even though Brazil is a leader in the fight against Tuberculosis and offers treatment free of charge through the Unified Health System, there is still a need to invest in public TB prevention policies and in the continuing education of health professionals responsible for receiving, treating and monitoring infected patients.
