Abstract
Objective: To characterize the main forms of treatment of sepsis in patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Methods: This is a descriptive literature review with a qualitative approach of twelve studies found using the descriptors: Nursing, Sepsis and Treatment Unit, in Medline, LILACS and BDENF databases. Results: The results pointed to the fact that clinical nursing interventions can also reduce the cost of treatment in ICUs. The average number of interventions is also usually high in ICUs. Drug interactions are one of the biggest problems related to medications in ICUs and intensive care providers give less priority to their meaning compared to nurses. Medication errors should be a potential reason for drug-related problems. Hence the relevance of this study related to intervention in patients with a clinical picture of sepsis in the ICU. Final considerations: These recommendations and contributions from the literature can significantly reduce delays in definitive treatment and can further reduce the mortality of patients with a clinical picture of sepsis.
