Abstract
Objective: To identify in the scientific literature the impacts on the newborn from the use of cocaine and crack during pregnancy and to contribute with important findings for the suggestion of elaboration of future public policies, at the preventive and interventional level. Methods: Integrative literature review. The searches for scientific evidence were carried out in October 2022 in the databases: Web of Science, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences, Database in Nursing and Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, through the Virtual Health Library. Results: 16 studies were identified for analysis and relevant variables were established for the observation of scientific productions related to the research, which addressed the impacts on pregnant women who use crack and/or cocaine. Final considerations: It was observed that maternal abuse of cocaine and crack is considered a global public health problem and is associated with neurobehavioral deficits, which can manifest in the child's development from early childhood to adolescence. The most observed impacts were: low birth weight, longer hospitalization time after birth and high propensity to be premature, respiratory and nutritional problems, abortion, impaired fetal neurodevelopment, brain anomalies.
