Abstract
Objective: To analyze human dignity in Paulo Freire's definition. Bibliographic review: Dignity is seen by Freire as a source of freedom and autonomy, which makes the author believe that education is a powerful tool to free people from their oppression and allow them to reach their fullness, becoming a worker and citizen who can fully exercise their rights. Paulo Freire, as a philosopher of education, thinks that human beings are integrated into their real social context and seeks, in this place, through education, to create a system that provides them with greater autonomy and independence, which is only possible through the recognition of dignity of the human person, founding basis of the Brazilian Democratic State of Law. Final considerations: Human dignity is seen by Freire as a source of freedom and autonomy, which makes the author believe that education is a powerful tool to free people from their oppression and allow them to reach their fullness, making them become a worker and citizen who can fully exercise their rights.
