Abstract
Objective: To identify the importance of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) methodology for the development of Education 4.0. Methods: This is an integrative literature review, focusing on articles published primarily in the last 5 years. The research was guided by the following question: What is the importance of the STEAM methodology for the development of Education 4.0? A search was conducted for relevant works on the topic, using databases such as Capes Journal and ScienceDirect. Articles strictly related to the subject were sought. The search terms and descriptors used for finding these scientific papers were: STEAM, Education 4.0, and industry. Results: 23 relevant studies on the topic were selected for the integrative review. Final considerations: STEAM has proven to be of great importance in the education of students, particularly in this competitive world. Young people need to develop new skills such as creativity, critical thinking, and collaborative work, with the aim of solving problems in real-world environments. The use of the STEAM methodology in Education 4.0 has brought about a complete transformation in the way of learning, teaching, and thinking. The process has become dynamic and aligned with an information, technology, and innovation-driven industrial society.
