Abstract
Objective: Evaluate the knowledge of students about first aid before and after an educational intervention for elementary school students. Methods: This is a descriptive, qualitative, quasi-experimental, time series study, with analysis before and after the intervention used. through educational lectures to 5th grade students, aged at least 9 years old, on first aid. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, 14 students participated, subdivided into two groups, as they needed to respect social distance. Results: The research showed little or no knowledge, therefore, a low rate of correct answers, referring to fainting, only 5 students knew how to proceed correctly (35.7%), traffic accidents, 6 students (42.8%) and falls, 4 students (28.6%); on the other hand, four themes of the educational lecture, even in the pre-test already had a high rate of correct answers, these referred to convulsions, drowning and hemorrhages, where 14 students (100%) answered correctly, in the pre-test and post- test. Conclusion: The educational intervention in health proved to be essential in the acquisition of knowledge by students, allowing for a higher percentage of correct answers in the post-test. Educational lectures can be used as an instructional tool about first aid, in a fun and relaxed way, expanding the level of knowledge of students.
