Abstract

Objective: To address the educational challenges faced by students diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in the southern region of Brazil. Methods: This study is qualitative research that employed semi-structured interviews with 32 participants, including mothers, teachers, and educational staff, in the year 2022. Results: The obtained results identified symptoms of ADHD, such as lack of concentration, restlessness, agitation, difficulties in memory, and impaired motor coordination in students. Furthermore, they emphasized the importance of the school environment in detecting this type of disorder, as well as the relevance of communication among the educational staff, parents, and healthcare professionals for referral, diagnosis, and effective care in the treatment and educational support of students with ADHD. Conclusion: Thus, the research contributes to the reflection on multidisciplinary practices in the educational environment, as well as the construction of a more inclusive and egalitarian space for the social and academic development of students with ADHD.
