Abstract
Objective: To describe the scientific evidence that addresses the care profile of emergency services during the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil. Methods: This is an integrative review carried out in 6 phases. The bibliographic survey was carried out from September to October 2022, in the databases: National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health (PubMed), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and the Virtual Health Library (BVS). After searching and analyzing the articles, 10 studies were selected. Results: There was no significant change in the age group of users. Most studies report greater attendance to females, with no change in the gender profile when related to the pre-pandemic period. Despite the decrease in the number of visits, there was a proportional increase in serious cases in the emergency room, concomitant with higher rates of hospitalization, time and postoperative complications. There was a decrease in cases of gastrointestinal tract infection, acute obstructive pyelonephritis and conjunctivitis. Finally, there was an increase in cases of domestic trauma and respiratory complaints. Conclusion: There is a need for more research on the topic addressed and it is expected that the results of this research will bring to light an analysis of the care provided in emergency services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
