Abstract
Objective: To report the extension activity for the engagement of patients and companions for the prevention of adverse events in the pre- and post-surgery situation.Experience report: The nursing students interpreting the "minefield" game, with the theme of patient safety on the goals: Effective Communication, Safe Surgery and Fall Prevention, applied the dynamics in the entire general surgical and neurological ward of the hospital with all patients, companions and visitors who were present during the university extension period. This interactive game was received in a remarkable way and contributed to the training of these participants to build a culture of safety in the inpatient units. Final considerations: The activity favored the development of strategies to improve patient safety, contributing to the development of conducts that enhance qualified care. Once again, nursing contributes significantly to patient safety through the adoption of educational practices, stimulating the development of a culture of quality in health.
