Abstract
Objective: To evaluate scientific evidence on the impact of preoperative nursing consultation on rehabilitation and postoperative care in order to avoid possible complications. Methods: Integrative literature review of research between 2013 and 2025, with search in scientific databases and exclusion of non-academic sources and articles that are not related to the proposed theme. Results: Nursing consultation significantly identifies several barriers that are essential for performing surgical interventions, reduces risk factors and perioperative complications, such as infections and readmissions. Through the use of personalized and standardized institutional protocols, adherence to postoperative care by the team and the patient improved, as well as the continuous education of the team about the specificity of the service. Final considerations: Preoperative nursing consultation promotes holistic care, reduces complications and offers legal support to the surgical team, being essential for patient safety.
