Abstract
Objective: To characterize the epidemiological profile of acute Chagas disease in Tucuruí-PA (2018-2022) and to analyze its implications for nursing practice in surveillance and primary care. Methods: An epidemiological, descriptive, and cross-sectional study with data from 78 cases from SINAN. Sociodemographic, seasonal, and transmission variables were analyzed, with an emphasis on the role of nursing in the quality and use of this data. Results: A total of 78 cases were registered, with a peak of 41 in 2018 and a 95.1% reduction by 2022 (2 cases). Oral transmission associated with açaí was the main route (85%). The predominant profile was men (57%) in the economically active age group of 20 to 59 years (68%), with cases concentrated in the first half of the year and peaks in March and September. Conclusion: The significant reduction in cases suggests the impact of sanitary surveillance. However, the persistence of oral transmission maintains the disease as a relevant public health issue. This epidemiological characterization supports nursing in planning, qualifying clinical suspicion, and strengthening surveillance to prevent outbreaks.
