Abstract
This research aims to map original articles on scientific publications about patient safety in intensive care units, published from January 2014 to December 2018, in the SciELO database, Brazil. Descriptive and bibliometric study, the Scientific Electronic Electronic Library Online database (SciELO) was used for its construction. Only publications of original articles were included with the descriptors Intensive Care Unit and Patient Safety, as well as Intensive Care, as a strategy in locating the publications. 56 articles were identified and 46 were selected for analysis. There is a significant participation of nurses in the development of studies, with a predominance in teaching and research institutions from the Southeast region. In this sense, we intend to signal that such perspectives observed, on the addressed descriptors, point out that there is an interest in research predominantly from nursing. The occurrence of publications expresses new conceptions of nursing research in the country and we consider the need for studies mainly in the northern region. Databases are important tools in the construction of research, since they have a range of studies that are easily accessible and allow relevant studies in a short period of time.
