Abstract
Dengue is considered a public health problem worldwide. The proliferation of this vector occurs easily in favorable environments such as standing water. The symptoms of dengue can be varied asymptomatic and, in most cases, symptomatic. The susceptibility to the dengue virus is universal. However, some risk factors are determinant for the severity of the disease, such as age, ethnicity, presence of comorbidities and secondary infection. The purpose of this article is to describe the epidemiological profile of dengue cases in Cacoal-RO from 2015 to 2017. The methodology used was a retrospective, cross-sectional, descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The research was carried out in the municipality of Cacoal - RO, in the Brazilian Amazon. It is concluded that the epidemiological profile of dengue has shown a decrease in the number of reported cases, affecting mainly the female sex, with the age group of 20 to 39 years old. An annual average of 107.6 cases was obtained in the municipality surveyed.
