Abstract

Objective: To analyze the cesarean index in hospitals in the Federal District, based on the constituent elements of Robson's classification groups. Methods: This is an ecological, retrospective cross-sectional study. Carried out through the data collected in the Department of Informatics of the Sistema Único de Saúde (Unified Health System) (DATASUS), referring to the Information System on Live Births (SINASC), between the years 2019 and 2020. After data extraction, they were tabulated and analyzed by person's chi-square test, in which it was adopted as a parameter for significance level P<0.05. No ethical approval was required because this research used secondary data.  Results: 55,477 deliveries were recorded in 2019, of which 52% correspond to cesarean deliveries. Cesarean deliveries were more prevalent in mothers with a higher level of education. The relative contribution of cesarean sections was higher in group 5 (34.84%),2 (17.71%), 1 (11.55%) and 10 (10.56%) representing together 74.66% of cesarean sections during the two years.   Conclusion: It is concluded that it is necessary to strengthen public policies to reduce the submission of women to cesarean section improperly, especially in primiparous.
