Abstract
Objective: To analyze the scientific evidence regarding the resistance of Treponema pallidum to conventional treatment of Syphilis. Methods: This is an integrative review of the literature based on the guiding question: what is the scientific evidence of resistance mechanisms to conventional syphilis treatment? The SciELO, Pubmed and Virtual Health Library (VHL) databases were used, covering the period from 2014 to 2024 with the keywords “Syphilis”, “Penicillin Resistance” and “Bacterial Pharmacoresistance”. Results: Of the total number of studies found (n= 63), 19 were in the VHL, 38 in PubMed and 6 in Scielo. In the end, 5 articles were selected for full reading. It was observed that the reported resistance occurs mainly due to resistant strains, allergies and aversions to medications, promoting therapeutic difficulties at the current time and with future repercussions on public health. Final considerations: The articles point to the need to expand therapeutic options for the treatment of Syphilis due to antimicrobial resistance.
