Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the clinical and evolutionary characteristics of kidney transplant recipients in the organizational context of work. Methods: This is a cross-sectional, descriptive, documentary and retrospective study, with a quantitative approach. Data collection was performed through forms filed in the medical records of the Renal Transplant Center of the General Hospital of Fortaleza. Results: Data were collected from 571 patients, predominantly aged between 40 and 59 years (39%), male (54.6%), married (36.1%), without disabilities (85.5%) and with elementary education (36.4%). Regarding the type of renal replacement therapy, hemodialysis predominated with 70.4% of the cases. Regarding the duration of dialysis, there was a predominance of more than 36 months (39.2%) and only 3.2% transplanted without undergoing dialysis. It was observed that 88.10% of the patients were dialyzed by AVF and 7.4% needed a new transplant. Conclusion: Nursing care for kidney transplant patients is essential for the maintenance and preservation of the graft and the patient's quality of life. This care constitutes the basic structure for the patient in the post-transplant period because knowing, preventing, and identifying complications early is crucial for the success of this treatment.
