Abstract

Objective: To analyze the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health and psychological well-being of healthcare professionals. Methods: This is an integrative literature review conducted in the PubMed database. The descriptors used were "COVID-19" AND "Mental Disorders" AND "Healthcare Professionals" AND " ICU" AND "Burnout.". Results: Studies have shown high prevalence rates of burnout, anxiety, depression, insomnia, stress, and post-traumatic stress disorder. The most affected professionals were women, nurses, and those working on the front lines. The main risk factors included work overload, physical and emotional exhaustion, fear of contamination, and insufficient resources. Protective factors included institutional support, psychological resources, and an adequate supply of personal protective equipment (PPE). Final considerations: COVID-19 has had a strong impact on the mental health of healthcare professionals, reinforcing the need for institutional strategies for ongoing support, promotion of psychological well-being, and preventive interventions aimed at this group.
