Abstract

Objective: To analyze the knowledge and experiences of nursing professionals working in an adult Intensive Care Unit regarding care for dialysis patients. Methods: This is an exploratory study with a qualitative-quantitative approach, conducted with 35 nursing professionals working in an adult ICU. Data collection was carried out through a semi-structured questionnaire, and data analysis was performed using descriptive statistical tabulation and content analysis according to Bardin. Results: Most participants were nursing technicians (77.14%), predominantly female (57.14%), with ages mainly between 30 and 35 years and with 1 to 5 years of ICU experience (57.14%). The study also revealed that although nursing professionals demonstrate commitment and sensitivity in the care of dialysis patients, they still face challenges related to infrastructure, workload, and lack of specific training. Conclusion: It is concluded that investment in continuing education, standardized care protocols, and professional appreciation is necessary to strengthen intensive care nursing practice and promote increasingly safe and humanized assistance.
