Abstract

Objective: To analyze the relationship between violence against women and its impacts on their health, identifying the places where it occurs, the profile of the aggressors, and the role of nursing in minimizing these impacts. Methods: This is a qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory study conducted in the municipality of Uberlândia (MG), Brazil. Ninety-eight notification forms from the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN) were analyzed, and semi-structured interviews were conducted. Data were interpreted using Bardin’s Content Analysis technique. Results: The domestic environment was identified as the main setting for the aggressions, with the intimate partner being the most frequent aggressor. The repercussions included physical injuries and, predominantly, psychological harms, such as anxiety, depression, fear, and low self-esteem. The role of nursing in humanized care, qualified listening, and guidance for the victims was highlighted. Conclusion: Violence against women requires interdisciplinary actions and effective public policies. A limitation of the study is the reliance on secondary records and its local context.
