Abstract

Objective: To analyze nursing care for patients with arteriovenous fistula. Methods: An integrative review conducted through searches in the Virtual Health Library (VHL), Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS), Public Medline (PubMed), and The Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL) databases, covering the period from 2016 to 2025. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, ten articles comprised the final sample. Results: The studies place nurses at the center of care, highlighting educational actions directed at patients and families, individualized assistance, and the need for scientific and technical training for cannulation and complication prevention. More recent studies demonstrate that structured educational interventions significantly improve patients’ self-care scores. Final considerations: Nursing care for patients with arteriovenous fistula is primarily expressed through health education, self-care strategies, and continuous professional qualification, articulated through the therapeutic relationship with patients and their families.
