Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To analyze the parameter for the surgical choice in the treatment of adenoiditis relating to the type of surgery of choice. Methods: The methodological approach of this work proposes a compilation of bibliographic research with a qualitative approach and descriptive character through an integrative literature review in the National Library of Medicine, Virtual Health Library and Directory of Open Access Journals databases. The descriptors used were “Adenoidectomy”, “Otorhinolaryngologic Surgical Procedures” and “Child”. Inclusion criteria were articles from journal articles, clinical trials, clinical trials, randomized or non-randomized, case-control studies, cohort study, free access, published in English, Portuguese, Spanish and between 2017 and 2022. Results: In the nineteen selected articles, the criteria for surgical indication in the treatment of adenoids were evaluated according to which surgery was determined according to signs and symptoms and in this way, a comparative table was built relating to the number of individuals approached in the studies, year of publication. Final considerations: Thus, obstructive sleep apnea has been observed as a surgical indication in the treatment of adenoiditis, in most cases, and the most indicated surgeries were adenoidectomy and adenotonsillectomy.
