Abstract

Objective: to investigate the literature about the association between the development of cardiovascular events and COVID-19 in adult patients. Methods: Integrative literature review with search in the Pubmed database of articles published in the last 3 years using the descriptors “COVID-19” and “cardiovascular change”. Results: A total of 13 scientific articles were considered suitable for carrying out this integrative review. The extracted information was arranged according to the authorship and year of publication, methodology used in the analyzed study, main objective of the study and characteristic of the study or characteristic of the studied population. Final considerations: Patients who evolved with the cure of SARS-CoV-2 infection have a considerably high risk for the development of cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure and even acute myocardial infarction. The pandemic promoted a significant decrease in hospitalizations for all cardiovascular causes. Thromboembolism is considered one of the main causes of hospitalization, as well as myocarditis.
