Abstract

Objective: To demonstrate the importance of early diagnosis of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in Primary Health Care. Methods: This is an integrative literature review. Data collection was carried out using the Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo) and National Library of Medicine (PubMed) databases, with a time frame from 2018 to 2022. Results: Using the established descriptors, 1,014 articles were obtained and of these, 763 were excluded for not being related to the theme, 179 for being outside the time frame, 36 for not presenting the diagnosis of the patient with chronic kidney disease, 17 for duplicity. Finally, 19 articles were selected to compose the sample group. CKD is characterized by the progressive and irreversible loss of Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR), with significant prevalence in the Brazilian adult population. In this context, Systemic Arterial Hypertension (SAH) and Diabetes Mellitus (DM) are observed as the main risk factors for CKD, since the increase in vascular resistance added to the high levels of glycemia is related to renal dysfunction a glomerular level. Final considerations: The accurate look of the primary care teams is essential, seeking the early diagnosis of CKD, especially for patients with detectable risk factors.
