Abstract

Objective: To analyze how and what changes in unhealthy lifestyle habits reduce the risk of cardiovascular events and the main diseases that are most affected.  Methods: The databases used were the National Library of Medicine, Virtual Health Library and Directory of Open Access with the descriptors: “Feeding Behavior”, “Cardiovascular Diseases” and “Primary Health Care” using the Boolean operator “and”.  The search filters used were Clinical Trial, Journal Article, articles published between 2016 and 2021, free access articles and articles published in English, Portuguese and Spanish.  Results: The nutritional influences, whether specific or generic, alter survival and positively influence the outcome of CVD, which are: atherosclerosis, infarction, stroke, hypertension and deep vein thrombosis.  Final Considerations: In this way, awareness and guidance, through Primary Care, of a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, giving preference to whole grains, foods rich in fiber, fish, lean meats and low-fat dairy products with minimization of sugar and sodium intake, avoids serious, significant outcomes and greater costs to the patient's health.
